CPI is an organization that has put on various trainings and conferences about Church Planting in Japan. The main conference, currently know as Renown, has been the highlight every two years for our children. They love going to the children’s program at this conference and connecting with Japanese and MKs from throughout Japan. They also have looked forward to the day when they could be volunteers and part of the youth program. Unfortunately this week we all received this email,
Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters,
Thank you for always attending CPI conferences and gatherings and for supporting our ministry. The next CPI Renown conference will be held in November 2026 with Sam Allberry as the main speaker, and we have an important announcement to make in advance.
Each year, we have had dozens of volunteers from overseas come to Renownto provide a kids program but we have decided to discontinue the kids program starting with the next conference. This may be disappointing news for those who have been attending with their children, and it was a very difficult decision for the leadership team to make, but we have made this decision after considering various factors and seeking the best form for the conference.
We wanted to let you know that we have reached this decision in order to further the purpose of CPI, which is to encourage more pastors, missionaries, church staff, and others who are doing the work of the Lord’s Kingdom throughout Japan with the gospel and to promote partnerships among them. We will have a nursing room for nursing moms. The sessions are open to everyone but not recommended for those under 16. If you have any questions about this announcement, please feel free to let us know by e-mail.
We look forward to our next opportunity to meet and praise the Lord together!
In Christ,
CPI Leadership Team
The decision makes sense AND is a loss for our children. Please pray for the many families who will probably only send one spouse or maybe not even go to this conference. Pray for other opportunities for MKs and children of Japanese Pastors/Staff to gather and meet. Pray as our children grieve this loss!
