Many churches had various festivities on December 23 since it was the last Sunday before Christmas. We decided to take part in the church we will begin working with in next year, Shiga Church. The morning started with a traditional worship service. Pastor Aoki preached on why Christ came to earth. It was a powerful message and really prepared all of our hearts to understand the importance of Christ’s birth.
After worship we had a church potluck celebration. I am sorry we didn’t take any pictures because we had a delicious feast! We then had a time where many members offered up their talents for everyone to enjoy. There were beautiful musical offerings, a puppet show for the children, and games. You can see Michael participating in one of the gesture games in the pictures below. It was a lot harder then it looked!
Next we had the Annual Candlelight service. The Christmas story was read from the Bible, we sang various carols, and had brief devotional from the Pastor. What a beautiful way to worship Christ’s birth
To end the day we had the annual BINGO game. I actually won for the first time! In the end everyone was able to win some sort of prize. The day was a long day, but a wonderful way to celebrate Christ’s birth. We look forward to joining this congregation and assisting in advancing the Kingdom of Christ in Japan.
